Instagram describes IGTV as "a new app for watching long-form, vertical video from your favorite Instagram creators". It will remain focused on creators that users love the most and already follow on Instagram. According to Instagram, "IGTV is built for how you actually use your phone: vertical and full screen".

As soon as you open IGTV, video will start playing in full-screen portrait mode-no need to click anything. Users can also like, comment and share videos with friends directly.

There was the time Instagram controversially switched its logo, the algorithm change that affected who saw our posts and don't even get us started on the threat that our profiles were being changed to a 4×4 photo grid. Simply upload videos in the app or on the web to start your platform.

There are also some hints of the defunct Vine service in there, appropriate, as some of IGTV's stalwarts like King Bach started on there.

This new feature will put Instagram in direct competition with YouTube and will no doubt help the social app to lure over all those original content creators. You can upload your own videos there, too. Another differentiator from good-old Instagram is that creators will be able to put links in the description of their videos. "IGTV is different from the typical mobile video experience", said Insta in a press release. To celebrate, the Facebook-owned photo site is launching a true video platform that goes beyond the short throwaway videos the service now offers.

Another unique feature of this app: it has been formatted so that all videos play vertically.

Meghan and Harry attend Royal Ascot with the Queen
It has now been reported that the Duchess of Sussex's dad was reportedly paid £7,500 for the tell-all interview . Markle made her debut appearance at the event in Ascot , Berkshire, UK, on Tuesday looking as glamorous as ever.

Taking YouTube by the horns, Instagram has announced, with much fanfare, the launch of IGTV - a video content-only wing of Instagram.

Instagram has revealed it now has 1 billion users worldwide since it first launched in 2010.

Systrom said IGTV is built to be used on a smartphone, and boosts the time for videos from the previous limit of one minute.

Instagram chief executive Kevin Systrom announced the milestone as he unveiled the new video application known as IGTV.

Some more on the new service.
