According to a spokesman for Iran's nuclear agency, Tehran will inform the United Nations nuclear watchdog in Vienna on Tuesday that it had started the process to increase uranium enrichment capacity.

The world should stand up to Washington's bullying behaviour, Iran's foreign minister was quoted as saying on Sunday by state media in a letter to counterparts, as the top diplomat intensifies efforts to save a nuclear deal after a USA exit.

Israel trolled Iran on Monday with a gif from the film "Mean Girls" after Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called for their complete annihilation.

Iran has said it has the option of resuming industrial-scale enrichment now that the United States has withdrawn from the deal.

Under the agreement, Iran strictly limited its uranium enrichment capacity and is allowed to build parts for the centrifuges as long as it does not put them into operation.

Shortly after Khamenei's speech, French automaker PSA announced it was pulling out of two joint ventures to sell its cars in Iran owing to the U.S. sanctions.

Netanyahu will hold talks with Macron in Paris following his visit to Berlin, focusing on the worldwide nuclear deal with Iran as well as how to push Iranian forces out of Syria.

Iran denies the pursuit of an atomic programme for military purposes.

"Iran said there had only been feasibility and scientific studies but what we see is that Iran ran a fully fledged nuclear weapons program and that it followed directions from the political levels", the official added.

He said that the increase would be "within the framework of the JCPOA for the time being", referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, otherwise known as the Iran nuclear accord.

After eight years with Barack Obama, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu found the U.S. president he wanted in Donald Trump.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also commented on the matter, pledging not to let Iran obtain nuclear weapons.

France's PSA, which manufactures Peugeot and Citroen cars, on Monday became the latest to announce its plans to pull out of Iran, where it sold almost 445,000 cars a year ago. But fears are growing in Tehran that European leaders will be unable to prevent Washington from reimposing sanctions on European companies, which would badly damage Iran's oil economy.

But the remaining backers of the accord have limited power to protect Iran's economic interests in the face of U.S. sanctions, with Trump showing little inclination to spare European Union companies.

"However, we have liaised with stakeholders and had a number of exchanges and through these exchanges it is very clear that if there is anybody, any organisation that can do the verification, it is us, the IAEA", he said.
