Joe Jackson dead at 89

Joe Jackson

Joe Jackson - father of the late "King of Pop" Michael Jackson - has died age 89.

A family source tells DailyMail.com that Jackson, who had his wife Katherine by his side when he passed away, faded into unconsciousness on Tuesday.

The Jackson family was often riven by legal battles, jealousies, money disputes, Joe's philandering and allegations of child molestation against Michael, as well as Michael's eccentric lifestyle.

In the early 1960s Joe began shaping his sons Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and later younger sons Marlon and Michael into a musical group, which became the Jackson 5. The band, featuring a 7-year-old Michael Jackson had four singles hit the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Jackson's demise comes just two days after the 9th death anniversary of his son Michael Jackson. Paris wrote on her Twitter account, "this is a handsome tweet. though it upsets me to see whoever is in charge of this account taking advantage of it.my grandfather did not tweet this. i'm not sure if he's ever used this account". With the addition of Marlon and Michael, The Jackson 5 was born in 1966.

Just days ago the Twitter account associated with Joe Jackson shared an image online with the message "I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see". You are misjudged but I know who the real you is.

However, like many who are thwarted in their own paths, Joe Jackson looked to his children to fulfill his dreams.

Jermaine Jackson dismissed these wishes, stating that his father was "very, very frail" and did not have long. As Motown attorney Ralph Seltzer, who was instrumental in signing the group to the legendary label, told the Detroit Free Press in 2009: "They were extremely well-mannered".

They went on to become one of the most successful R&B groups in history, with their father initially acting as their manager.

If Iceland wins, then Sampaoli's side can still qualify if it beats Nigeria by two more goals than Iceland wins its game. La Albiceleste have won their previous five World Cup encounters against the African nation.

"Joseph's role as manager dwindled however as Motown CEO Berry Gordy began to take more charge on his act, a role that reverted back to Joseph when he began managing the entire family for performances in Las Vegas", according to Jackson's official site.

Jackson and his wife had been living apart for the past few years following a tumultuous 69-year relationship during which Jackson fathered a love child, had multiple affairs and was accused of abusing the couple's children.

TMZ is reporting Jackson's death as a result of his pancreatic cancer. Together, they had 10 children: Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Michael, Randy, Rebbie, La Toya, Janet, and Brandon, the twin brother of Marlon who sadly died shortly after birth. Sharpton was one of the first to mourn Joe Jackson on Twitter.

Jackson admitted that he disciplined his children physically, but said he had no regrets. "I came out with some kids that everybody loved all over the world. And they treated everybody right".

Joe was left out of the "Thriller" singer's will when he died aged 50 in 2009.

The elder Jackson told CNN his son had tried to reach him before his death, but they didn't connect.

He said Joe presided over rehearsals with a belt.

Janet spoke warmly of her father on June 22.
