Mohamed Salah scores again amid dispute with Egyptian federation

Salah scored a penalty in Egypt's 3-1 World Cup defeat by Russia

Multiple sources reported Abdel Rahim Mohamed fell ill at the headquarters of the Egyptian state television, where he was scheduled to provide commentary on Egypt's game on the Nile Sports channel. Mohamed was then rushed to the French Qasr Al-Aini Hospital, where the doctors tried to resuscitate him for over half an hour.

However, despite their efforts, Mohamed, who had played for and coached Egyptian side Zamalek FC, was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

In a press conference following the 2-1 loss against Saudi Arabia, Cuper was asked about the situation of the forward and why he did not show up to the conference.

Ahmed Fawzi, a former goalkeeper who was in the studio at the time of the fatal episode, noted that his colleague looked "exhausted" and deeply "affected" by the Egypt team's third defeat and elimination from the tournament.

Critics say Kadyrov, whois hosting the Egypt team in the regional capital Grozny, has used the World Cup as a propaganda tool to boost the Chechen leader's image in the Muslim world.

Kroos hits out at Germany's World Cup doubters
He added: "The whole group is still alive so we will have to lick our wounds and come back for the last game". Sweden's forward Marcus Berg admitted the team had "broken down" after that defeat.

The Liverpool striker did not celebrate his goal, fueling speculation he could still quit the national team over a political row.

Egypt, which was playing at the World Cup for the first time since 1990, finished in last place in the group in what has become a hugely disappointing tournament for the Egyptians.

He smashed the age record set by Colombia goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon, who was aged 43 years and three days when he played against Japan in Brazil in 2014.

After the Saudis scored their injury-time victor on Monday, Salah pulled his jersey up over his face.

The Egyptians conceded in injury time to lose 2-1 to Saudi Arabia on Monday, and crashed out of the tournament without collecting a single point from their three group games in Russian Federation.
