'Nobody is left' - Guatemala volcano ravaged entire families

Mount Vesuvius

No fewer than 192 people are missing and 75 are confirmed dead as a result of the explosion of the Fuego volcano on Sunday, which officials said was the most violent volcano eruption in more than a century.

A dead cow lays in the disaster zone near following the eruption of a volcano in Guatemala, June 5, 2018.

Just days after the eruption the volcano started to smoke again and the emergency services quickly moved everyone to safety. Cabanas says some of the missing people could be among the unidentified bodies.

"All missionaries are safe, but hundreds of people were evacuated as ash was dispersed over a nine-mile radius", the news release said.

The Central American country's disaster and forensic agency Inacif on Wednesday afternoon raised the death toll to at least 99, up from 85.

After a drone survey, police managed to reach a farm where a home had been buried and people were believed to have been trapped inside. "There's a lot of people suffering right now because they lost their family, they lost their home, they lost everything they had, and there is a lot of people missing". Volcanic activity in the area is common, he told The Associated Press, but everything changed after a huge cloud of ash came pouring out.

Facebook in another Data Sharing Scandal involving Device Makers
"And if we find that someone improperly used data, we're going to ban them from Facebook and tell everyone affected", he added. To that end, Facebook contends that companies like Samsung or BlackBerry in these cases are suppliers, not third parties.

Rescuers, police and journalists hurried to leave the area as a siren wailed and loudspeakers blared, "Evacuate". The searing hot volcanic material that covered communities near the volcano left numerous bodies unrecognizable so DNA testing or other methods will be necessary for identification. DNA testing and other methods will be required to identify them.

People carry the coffin of three-year-old Jennifer Andrea Morales who died during the eruption of the Volcan de Fuego, which in Spanish means Volcano of Fire, as villagers carry seven bodies to the cemetery in San Juan Alotenango, Guatemala, on Monday.

"Mud flows caused damage and loss of life at Unzen about a decade ago, and were a major factor in the hazards during the 1991 Pinatubo eruption", he said.

Experts warned Wednesday that heavy rains in the area could provoke avalanches due to the large flows of volcanic mud, known as lahars, since the eruption on Sunday.

Urgent rescue missions are underway right now, but the hot terrain is making it hard.

As dawn broke today, the volcano continued to rattle with what Guatemala's Volcanology Institute said were eight to 10 moderate eruptions per hour - vastly less intense than Monday's big blasts.
