Tesla Model Y: New Picture Teases Bulky Design for SUV

Tesla got a head start in the premium electric vehicle segment

The world's biggest wealth fund voted contrary to the management recommendation on this item, but it was in the minority, as the majority of Tesla shareholders shot down the proposal to separate Elon Musk's roles at Tesla "by a wide margin", the company's General Counsel Todd Maron said at the meeting.

Also on the vehicular front, Musk said Tesla would begin offering Model 3 test drives in some of its store locations by the end of the month.

As Electrek reports, the image was revealed yesterday alongside the latest Tesla shareholders meeting.

"The Model 3 ramp is understandably the central focus for investors as the company works to increase production", Baird Equity Research analyst Ben Kallo wrote in a research note.

'I actually used to ride motorcycles when I was a kid, dirt-biking for like eight years or something.

"It's really looking like we're going to have positive GAAP net income next quarter, as well as positive cash flow, in Q3 and Q4", he said.

Nadal thrashes Gasquet as he continues quest for 11th French Open title
The 27th-seeded Gasquet trailed 5-0 in the first set before winning the next three games and moving 30-0 ahead on Nadal's serve. Third-seeded Garbine Muguruza of Spain has crushed Samantha Stosur 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the fourth round of the French Open .

The company has been engaging in so-called "burst builds", temporary periods of fast-as-possible production which it uses to estimate how many cars it is capable of building over longer periods of time. And an electric motorcycle from a company with Tesla's brand image would certainly have meant a lot of consumer interest, and possibly even sales for the electric auto company. The first Model 3 has already entered that line. In less than one year from the date of the 2018 shareholder meeting, said Musk, Tesla will have installed its next 1 gigawatt-hour.

Tesla will eventually build 10 or 12 Gigafactories worldwide, said Musk, with the goal of localizing production at least to the continent level. "I kind of say when I think it can occur, but then I'm typically optimistic about these things".

Set to share many of its parts with the Model 3 sedan, the Model Y will essentially be a smaller version of the Model X and aim to become the most affordable, all-electric crossover on the market.

He said: "It's important for us to show with the Roadster that an electric vehicle can outperform a gasoline auto in every way".

Although the eco-friendly auto is one of Tesla's more affordable models, those looking to buy the vehicle may be waiting months before they can get behind the wheel. At present, Tesla makes cars south of San Francisco in Fremont and has its lone Tesla Gigafactory, which makes only batteries, outside Reno, Nevada.

Smaller cars took top billing in the announcement, with the Model Y confirmed for reveal in March 2019 and production in the first half of 2020.
