Making her first royal engagement without her husband, Meghan has accompanied the Queen to officially open the Mersey Gateway Bridge.

"The queen was doing everything right for her and made her look like a granddaughter or a friend whom she is very fond of", James added.

The train has been dubbed a "palace on wheels" and the features an office, sleeping quarters and dining areas.

As well as attending the official opening of the Mersey Gateway Bridge, Meghan spoke with well-wishers who packed the streets of Chester to see the new royal and the Queen.

She also had the rare privilege of being invited to travel on the Royal Train with the Queen - something typically reserved for the senior members of the Royal Family like Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The train ride, which left from London, will give Her Majesty and new granddaughter-in-law the flawless opportunity for some bonding time. The Queen answered, "You go first".

They're laughing and giggling in a lot of them and it's clear they found something very amusing.we would only love to know what was going on.

"Perhaps Meghan did bring a little bit more of that out in her".

The BBC reported that the new duchess delighted the crowds by stopping to talk and shake hands as she toured the famous walled centre of Chester.

So, does the Queen have a soft spot for Meghan?

The pair are visiting Cheshire and it's understood their train left London on Wednesday morning to arrive at Runcorn Station on Thursday morning. She is mentoring Meghan. The 92-year-old royal wore a Stewart Parvin skirt suit, choosing to wear a lime green design to pay a subtle tribute to the Grenfell Tower victims one year on from the fire.

"Thanks to a series of tiny loopholes in Canadian law, it's technically possible that Canada could immediately crown Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as king and queen of Canada", according to the country's National Post newspaper.

The duchess sat next to the queen for the performance.

Fellow royal fan Sharon Briscoe, 61, asked to see Meghan's wedding ring before remarking on her stunning look at her Windsor wedding.
