Trump praises EPA chief Pruitt under fire for ethics, spending

Pruitt had aide look into Chick-fil-A franchise opportunity for his wife report

In this week alone, stories have surfaced about Pruitt asking an agency aide to acquire a used Trump Hotel mattress and to research opportunities for his wife to own a Chick-fil-A franchise.

"EPA is doing really, really well", Trump said at an event at Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters attended by Pruitt.

"While I will deeply cherish my time serving in the Trump administration, I am excited for the opportunity to return to my home state to once again serve the people of Oklahoma".

This week congressional Democrats released the transcript of an interview in which Millan Hupp, a close aide to Pruitt, said the administrator had her carry out personal errands, including researching the purchase of an old mattress from the Trump International Hotel.

The Post notes that "federal ethics laws bar public officials from using their position or staff for private gain".

Warriors not expecting LeBron James and Co. to lose edge
Teams can't outshoot or outrun the Warriors in a seven-game series. "If we're going to be that petty to do that, so be it". So when they all came, and they all put stuff to the side to come to the meeting, I was like, man, this is awesome .

As a Cabinet official, Pruitt has access to the exclusive Navy-run restaurant, where prices are much lower than comparable eateries in downtown D.C. But that didn't stop Pruitt from racking up a sizable bill.

The Washington Post first reported Tuesday that following outreach from an aide, Pruitt had a call with an individual in the company's legal department.

EPA mails obtained by the Sierra Club under the Freedom of Information Act show Sydney Hupp, then Pruitt's scheduler, reaching out to Chick-fil-A executive Dan Cathy on May 18, 2017, for a meeting, at Pruitt's request, she wrote in the email.

The cons outweigh the pros, wouldn't you say? Now, Pruitt's ethical woes are leading to calls from conservatives for Trump to fire the embattled cabinet head. But you have done - I tell you, the EPA is doing so well. Whether he will or won't respond with another invective is anyone's guess, but it seems fair to assume that no one in the press should expect a Christmas card this year from the EPA. Joni Ernst, a staunchly conservative Republican from Iowa, suggested Pruitt should resign. The EPA gave no reason for her departure.

Pruitt's chief of staff, Ryan Jackson, and former top policy adviser Samantha Dravis are due to appear before the oversight committee's investigators later this month.
