DeAndre Jordan, Mavericks Reportedly Verbally Agree to 1-Year, $24M Contract

Clippers center De Andre Jordan

The Mavericks and Jordan agreed quickly after free agency opened Sunday on a one-year contract at roughly the $24.1 million he was set to make with the Clippers next season, two people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.

- Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) June 30, 2018Such a move would require Jordan to take a deal starting at the taxpayer midlevel exception of $5.3 mil - which would cost the Warriors more like $27 mil next season.

Dirk Nowitzki even declined his $5 million option for next season, with the intention to re-sign in July, so Dallas would have more money available to offer Jordan.

France Star Feels Sorry For Lionel Messi
France enters this marquee matchup at +135 on the money line, meaning you'd need to bet $100 on a French victory to win $135. Lloris refused to be drawn on comparisons between the talismanic Messi and France's prodigious winger Kylian Mbappe.

It is no secret that Dallas got a huge improvement when they verbally agreed with Jordan this morning.

The Dallas Mavericks are the heavy favorites to land Jordan, just a few years after he spurned Dallas at the last minute and re-signed with Los Angeles.

Jordan had until 11:59 p.m. ET Friday to make a decision on whether to exercise the option. At the last moment, the Los Angeles Clippers camped out at Jordan's house, while persuading Jordan to reverse his choice to join the Dallas Mavericks and officially sign a new deal with the franchise. He went from an unheralded second-round draft pick out of Texas A&M in 2009 to become one of the best big men in the league. He has averaged at least 13.6 rebounds per game in each of those seasons, as well. Although his blocked shots dropped significantly last season, Jordan gives the Mavericks a rim presence they have coveted.
