'It's all about business': Nadal blasts Wimbledon shot-clock plan

Roger Federer

The US Open will introduce the 25-second clock in the main draw for the first time this year and Wimbledon chief Richard Lewis admitted the change would "probably happen", although he confessed that he was in no rush to install it. They are my initials.

Federer, who wore a plain white bandana with two small red squares on the side while defeating Serbia's Dusan Lajovic 6-1 6-3 6-4 in the first round, said he was "excited" at being sponsored by the Japanese casual wear designer.

To put his new deal with Uniqlo even further into perspective, Federer has earned $116m over the course of his 20-year career as a professional.

"I had a long clay court season, a lot of matches", said Nadal as he explained why he sat out the grass court build-up to Wimbledon.

"Uniqlo really said, 'We need to make a major move within tennis, '" Andrews said.

The 23-time grand slam champion is chasing the all-time women's record of nine Wimbledon singles titles, held by Martina Navratilova. However, the Swiss legend managed to up the price to $US30 million per annum in a deal that also allows him to sell other patches on his tennis shirt - something Nike had refused him from doing.

"It was windy and it was one of those days you want to start well and get that first set under your belt and start to feel more comfortable", 12-times Grand Slam champion Djokovic said. In a short period of time, it will come to me.

According to reports on US sports site ESPN, Uniqlo initially offered Federer $US21 million to wear its gear.

Gareth Southgate: I was lucky to get second chance to manage England
As it stands, if England win the group and overcome their second round opponents, they'd face Brazil or Mexico in the quarter-finals.

Nadal is bidding to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year for the third time.

Third seed Cilic enjoyed a 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 win over Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka.

But Nadal has already given Spain plenty to be proud of this summer with an 11th French Open title last month, and the 32-year-old is aiming to justify his status as the world number one in London.

No. 6 Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria was the highest-seeded man to bow out, losing to Stan Wawrinka 1-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5), 6-4. "So I can not complain", he said. "I'm looking forward to see what shoes I will be wearing in the near future".

"They have shown interest to have a shoe deal with me, as well".

Dart, 21, took the No7 seed to a tie-break in their opening set before accelerating to a 4-1 lead in the second set.

Federer added: "I am deeply committed to tennis and to winning championships".

"It's a great feeling to be back, it's been a couple of years since I played on grass, so it is hard trying to find the rhythm".
