Schumer appeals to Bush on Kavanaugh documents

Rand Paul, who had publicly wavered as to whether he would support Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, says he has chose to endorse him, despite misgivings about the judge's views on surveillance and privacy issues.

Manchin is just one of three Democratic senators who voted in favor of confirming Justice Neil Gorsuch.

"After meeting Judge Kavanaugh and reviewing his record, I have chose to support his nomination", Paul said in the statement posted on Twitter.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said in his own letter to Schumer that the committee will receive up to 1 million pages of documents related to Kavanaugh's White House experience and believes Kavanaugh's confirmation will be the "most transparent in history".

When Justice Elena Kagan was nominated for the Supreme Court, she had also served as a counsel in a presidential administration, and accordingly, the Senate Judiciary Committee paused for almost a month to review the documents related to her service as counsel in the Clinton and Obama Administrations, releasing over 170,000 pages of information, including every e-mail Justice Kagan wrote while serving in the White House.

Manchester United could do with less of Jose Mourinho's negative attitude
If it's possible, it's good, if not then we keep fighting and working and believing in the players that we have". This is not even 30 percent of my squad, so don't look to this that way.

Manchin, who could be pivotal in the confirmation vote, said the pair had a "productive meeting", but he did not hint at how he will vote.

Republican leaders want Kavanaugh confirmed by early October, when the high court sits for its next session. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, one of a handful of Democratic senators seen as potential swing votes in the confirmation fight.

Since Trump announced his nomination of Kavanaugh on July 9, Manchin has stated concerns about what having Kavanaugh on the bench would mean for the federal health care law, specifically the provision protecting individuals with pre-existing conditions from losing insurance coverage. This strategy has been obvious from the start, and its goal is less to defeat Judge Kavanaugh than to protect incumbent Democrats running for re-election. After the meeting, which lasted over two hours, Manchin remained tight-lipped as to how he meant to vote.

- Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) July 30, 2018My conversation with Judge Kavanaugh reinforces my belief that he will evaluate cases before the Supreme Court from a textual and originalist point of view.

Kavanaugh also met Monday with Sen. Republicans hold a 51-49 majority in the chamber.
