Trump releases ‘very nice’ letter from Kim Jong Un

US North Korea hold military talks after delay

A very nice note from Chairman Kim of North Korea.

Kim, in his note, praised Trump for "energetic and extraordinary efforts made by Your Excellency Mr. President for the improvement of relations between the two countries and the faithful implementation of the joint statement".

According to The Chosun IIbo, a South Korean newspaper, Trump and Kim discussed "Rocket Man" during a lunch between the two in Singapore last month.

State Department officials had said that the meeting would likely take place on July 12, though they added that the date could shift.

Between 1996 and 2005, some 33 recovery operations were conducted in North Korea which saw 200 sets of remains returned.

Matters between the two countries were further complicated Thursday, when North Korean officials did not turn up to a meeting at the demilitarized zone at the border where US military figures had been expecting to discuss the repatriation of troop remains from the Korean War.

US President Donald Trump has published a letter from Kim Jong-un, in which North Korea's leader voices hopes for a "new future" in bilateral relations.

Follow-up talks that were scheduled a week after the summit were finally held after three weeks of delay, but U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was not even able to meet Kim when he flew to Pyongyang.

Red Sox Are Apparently Still Checking On Manny Machado
And with an already depleted farm system, it's better off that they have kept themselves out of the running. Machado came into Saturday hitting.313/.383/.568 (161 OPS+) with 23 home runs on the season.

Lee Do-hoon, South Korea's chief nuclear envoy, provided the update to reporters in Washington after holding a series of meetings with US officials handling the negotiations.

Despite the secretary's attempt to put a positive spin on the visit, as soon as he was out of the country, North Korea criticized his "unilateral and gangster-like" demands and called the talks "regrettable". "We will be ready", she said in a statement.

North Korean and USA teams, as well as United Nations officials, had been due to discuss the details of repatriation.

Moon says Trump and Kim will face "stern judgement" from the global community if their promise isn't kept.

"We will be ready", USA state department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said.

Kim is reportedly eyeing Switzerland as a potential venue for a second meeting, with North Korean diplomats sent to Bern, Davos, and Geneva last week to scope out hotels and conference centers, Kyodo reported.

"Like the more central issue of denuclearization", the North "will not give away leverage over the remains without obtaining something of value in return", Mark Fitzpatrick, a veteran arms control expert with the International Institute for Strategic Studies and Alana Vogel, also of the think tank, wrote on its blog Friday.

Trump has expressed an eagerness to tout the recovery of the war dead, telling Fox News that Kim was "giving us back the remains of probably 7,500 soldiers".
