Oklahoma's tax-free weekend expected to draw big crowds

Wisconsin sales tax holiday about to begin expected to cost state nearly $15 million in lost revenue

Retailers are ready to celebrate Florida's second busiest shopping "holiday" this weekend as the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday runs Friday through Sunday.

Shoppers, start your savings engines because the 2018 Oklahoma sales tax holiday is set to occur this weekend.

You can shop for school supplies, clothing, and some appliances without having to worry about added taxes.

That's because the new 0.45-cent sales tax bill passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. John Bel Edwards this summer discontinued the state's three sales tax holidays for seven years. We did see a lot more influx of that market.

"For coupons, it does help to be underneath that price rage before the coupon applies, but you can get an even bigger discount", said Hollenbeck.

Schumer appeals to Bush on Kavanaugh documents
Joe Manchin of West Virginia, one of a handful of Democratic senators seen as potential swing votes in the confirmation fight. Republican leaders want Kavanaugh confirmed by early October, when the high court sits for its next session.

"It seems like more people are aware of it this year than before", said Burger. It's a great time to save money on school supplies and back-to-school clothes.

The list of tax-exempt items includes: ice packs, most batteries, portable radios, duct tape, notebook paper, diapers and light bulbs. For school supplies, each supply item must be $75 or less.

Ready for school? This is your weekend to save on sales tax.

School supplies are tax-free as long as each item is under $75. The sales tax holiday weekend in Florida runs August 3-5, 2018. That's because shoppers went shopping over the weekend in droves.

School instructional materials are defined by the state tax department as, "reference books, reference maps and globes, textbooks and workbooks".
