Trump celebrates Kelly's first full year as chief of staff

Journalists reacted with dismay when the Trump administration barred CNN’s Kaitlan Collins from attending a presidential event in the Rose Garden

A retired Marine general, Kelly replaced Reince Priebus in the role.

Kelly hit the one-year mark as Trump's chief of staff Monday.

President Donald Trump has celebrated his chief of staff's first, full year on the job.

But Trump has made a decision to stick with Kelly - for now, at least.

The president took to twitter Monday celebrating Kelly's achievement.

Kelly came under fire earlier in the year for the White House's handling of security clearances after domestic violence allegations surfaced against former Staff Secretary Rob Porter.

Trump has reportedly considered replacing Kelly, with whom he's clashed over management style.

Blueprints for 3D-printed guns could be available this week
Once these untraceable guns are on our streets and in our schools, we can never get them back. With this lawsuit, the state AG's office wants a nationwide halt to the plans going online.

The two strong-willed men clashed repeatedly, with semi-frequent Oval Office shouting matches and speculation that Kelly could quit.

Kelly has acknowledged that his tenure could end with a single presidential tweet but, keenly aware of his own public perception, has suggested that he believes he can leave a lasting mark on the post and rehabilitate his reputation, one of the White House officials said.

Kelly has often joked publicly about how working for Trump is the hardest job he's ever had, including those on the battlefield.

Kelly was initially touted for his military background and seen as a force of order and calm in a chaotic White House plagued by a high turnover rate.

A source speaking to the Wall Street Journal said that "the plan" was to have Kelly remain until 2020 but that it could always change.

Trump and Kelly have privately argued at times and complained about one another to confidants.

"Look, at some point, things happen but I will tell you. we have a very good relationship".
