Trump tells attorney general to end Russian Federation probe

President Donald Trump

The latest development came Wednesday morning when Trump tweeted that Attorney Jeff Sessions - who is recused from overseeing the Russian Federation investigation - should end the special counsel Robert Mueller's work.

President Donald Trump listens during a campaign rally at Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in Tampa, Fla.

The president's demand came on the second day of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort's trial for charges of money laundering and tax fraud related to work he did for pro-Russia Ukrainian politicians. Just as quickly, the White House defended the tweets as expressing Trump's opinion.

This is a bad situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further. The documents also show that Federal Bureau of Investigation officials knowingly omitted the fact that Clinton funded the dossier while running against Trump in the election.

"Why didn't government tell me that he was under investigation", he added. Trump repeatedly has sought to discredit the investigation, which is also looking into any possible unlawful Trump campaign coordination with Moscow.

"It's not an order".

A Justice Department spokeswoman said the department had no immediate comment on Trump's tweet about ending Mueller's probe.

"I've heard him say I want to be interviewed if my lawyers can reach an agreement on what the ground rules will be", Giuliani said.

Blueprints for 3D-printed guns could be available this week
Once these untraceable guns are on our streets and in our schools, we can never get them back. With this lawsuit, the state AG's office wants a nationwide halt to the plans going online.

When pressed by reporters on how she tells the difference between a presidential order or an opinion, Sanders said Trump makes his intentions "pretty clear".

Some U.S. lawmakers said shutting down the investigation early would be a mistake. He provided no evidence that the team led by Mueller, a Republican who was appointed by a Republican, is biased against him.

There is nothing new about the president's frustration, agitation and anger at the special counsel investigation. John Dowd, Trump's lead lawyer on matters related to the Russian Federation investigation, resigned in March amid reports that the president was planning to ignore his advice and sit down with Mueller anyway.

With Sessions' removal from the Russian Federation probe, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein assumed oversight of the investigation and named Mueller to lead it after Trump in May 2017 fired James Comey, who as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was at the time heading the agency's Russian Federation probe.

The man heading Trump's re-election campaign, Brad Parscale, has in recent months called on Trump to fire Sessions and end the Mueller probe.

"They ought to let them conclude their work".

Obstruction is a crime of intent, and even a failed attempt to obstruct justice is prosecutable, Tribe notes, under 18 U.S.C. § 1503, which provides that "whoever corruptly. endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede, the due administration of justice, shall be (guilty of an offense)".
