West Nile Virus found in some mosquitoes in Portsmouth, Ohio area

West Nile virus Italy and a mosquito

"Public Health maintains and monitors 33 mosquito traps that are set up across the cities of Mississauga and Brampton and the Town of Caledon", Callanan said in a news release.

"The recent wet and increasing hot weather has created the flawless conditions for the Culex mosquito that carries West Nile Virus", Mark E. Wallace, Executive Director of the Weld County Health Department, stated in a press release.

About 80 percent of infected people show no symptoms at all.

There are no reported human cases at this time.

Ann Garvey says this death related to West Nile is tragic, and reminds Iowans to protect themselves and their families from mosquitoes.

Maryland's Department of Agriculture said it found the virus in mosquitoes collected in the Riverdale Park area of Prince George's County. Severe cases can lead to more serious illnesses, such as encephalitis and paralysis, and in some cases it can be fatal. About one in five will develop flu-like symptoms that can include fever, headache, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea or rash.

What you need to know before Paul Manafort’s trial
Giuliani said he and Jay Sekulow, another Trump lawyer, had told the president: "This would be a very bad thing to do now". That leaves Manafort, 69, facing charges that could keep him behind bars for the rest of his life.

People over 50-years-old, those with chronic diseases, and those who require medical treatment that weakens their immune system are most at risk.

"Luckily, the summer to this point hasn't been extremely wet, which has limited prime breeding conditions for mosquitoes", Callanan said. Don't apply repellents containing permethrin directly to skin. Always follow label instructions carefully.

Dress in long sleeves and trousers.

To combat West Nile, the Health Department recommends using insect repellant with 10-35% DEET, wearing light-colored clothing and staying indoors at dusk.

Carroll said West Nile is elevated in the Lehigh Valley this year, but no records have been broken.
